Massimo Segalla
Political Career
Massimo approached politics with the conviction that positive change stems from civic engagement and active participation. He began his political journey by collaborating on local initiatives, promoting conservative values, and supporting policies that foster economic growth, security, and social cohesion.
In July 2015, together with Chris Vinante, Massimo founded the Italian Conservatives with the support of Mark Field, then MP for Westminster, who represented the constituency for 15 consecutive years and was appointed Minister for the Commonwealth in 2016. That same year, the group was officially introduced to the Italian Ambassador in the UK, who expressed great curiosity, admiration, and full support.
Since then, for nearly 10 years, the Italian Conservatives has pursued its mission of serving as a bridge between the Italian community in the United Kingdom and the Conservative Party, becoming one of the most active political groups in London and highly regarded in British political circles. The organization has coordinated cultural events, election campaigns (including the notable campaign supporting Lord Zac Goldsmith for Mayor of London in 2016), and numerous parliamentary meetings with members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Among the most significant institutional meetings are: a meeting with the President of the House of Lords, Lord True, in his office in 2023; a meeting with then Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab and the Italian Ambassador in December 2022; and several official meetings with UK Prime Ministers — David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, and Rishi Sunak — the latter held at the official residence at 10 Downing Street.
Over the years, Massimo has held positions of responsibility within the Italian Conservatives, contributing to the organization of election campaigns, public events, and awareness activities. He has actively participated in mayoral campaigns and national elections for the UK Parliament.
Professional Career
Alongside his political activity, Massimo has developed a solid professional career in the legal sector as an Italian-Spanish lawyer, gaining expertise in international law, cross-border legal consultancy, and client representation in multicultural contexts.
He has worked diligently in some of the most prestigious international law firms in the City of London, including Skadden Arps, Freshfields LLP, Gibson Dunn, Herbert Smith, Shearman Sterling, Quinn Emanuel, and at major banking institutions such as JP Morgan and Bank of America, handling significant financial and commercial cases.
Massimo studied at City University in 2008, earning an LLM master’s degree in International Commercial Law. He qualified as a Spanish lawyer in Madrid in 2011 and as an Italian lawyer in Rome in 2018. He also deepened his knowledge of English common law, working as a legal consultant at an Italian law firm in the Temple area, home to the High Court of Justice.
Over the years, Massimo has collaborated with law firms, public institutions, and international organizations, contributing to the development of high-impact initiatives and promoting synergies between the professional and political spheres. He has held leadership roles that allowed him to consolidate a strategic and results-oriented vision, always maintaining a strong ethical sense and a deep awareness of social dynamics.
His professional experience has enabled him to gain a broad and pragmatic understanding of contemporary challenges, which he also applies to his political commitment. He strongly believes in the importance of an integrated approach that combines technical expertise with social sensitivity to build a sustainable and inclusive future.
